The Passports School in Cambodia

Yup. We’re pretty wound up around here getting ready for the launch of Passports with Purpose 2010. But I want to take a moment to reflect on PwP 2009. Because we just received photos from the school in rural Cambodia that YOU helped us fund and build!
I really can’t look at these photos without getting a bit choked up. And I’m not one to get choked up often.
But think about it. There are kids in this very rural area in Northern Cambodia that now have a place to learn because of a fundraiser that managed to harness the power, interest and heartstrings of a group of travelers.
$10 at a time, we raised $30,000 in 2009. And have influenced the future of a generation of children as a result.
Sit with that.
Doesn’t that get you all tingly?
The school is a humble building north of Siem Reap, close to the Thai border. Though simple as it is, it has tremendous meaning to the children who have an opportunity to learn there.
Now think about 2010. This year, PwP is building an entire village in South India for the Dalits, India’s most neglected class of citizens.
Beginning November 15th, you have a chance to participate in making this a successful fundraiser. Your $10 can help us reach our goal of $50,000 so that we can build approximately 25 homes for families who have never owned land, let alone had a bank account.
Help us support this cause by participating in this year’s Passports with Purpose. And next year we’ll share photos of the Passports Village in South India. Promise.

Awesome banner! What’s really wonderful is that those kids are soooooo much less likely to be trafficked now because they’re in school.
Great job, PWP. And now, on to India!
